So I thought maybe everyone would like to hear how I first discovered and got into MH dolls, it's a pretty interesting story!

June 25th 2010

My friend and I frequently go to TRU to see what's new. We never really expect to find anything too exciting, but we have fun going. The people at all 10 of the nearby TRUs know us well, so it's nice to be treated as somewhat of a VIP (Haha) Of course I spend almost $5,000 there a year so you'd think they'd like me. Anyway, we headed to the nearest TRU and went to my favorite section, Bratz. It was pitiful, Bratz by then were dead and buried, and clearanced to hell. It was a sad sight, and mind you this was before the new Bratz had been announced. Having collected Bratz since I was 10, I was sad. As my friend and I headed over to the action figures I noticed a brightly colored box. It was buried under some Moxie Girlz. I picked it up and the first thing I saw were ears. I said "Aww a cat girl!!" of course when I got a better look I saw she was a wolf, it was Clawdeen!

My friend was surprised, and looked her over "Hmm Monster High, sounds really cool!" he said as he looked over her box, and read her bio. I was sure there had to be more, so I dug around and sure enough, I found Draculaura, Frankie, and Lagoona! It was love at first sight, they were all so cute!! I checked their boxes and saw there was also a 2 pack. I dug around a little more and there was Deuce and Cleo! I had the whole set, I was so excited! I didn't even think about it, I went right up and bought everyone. My friend said to be careful what I spend, oh if he only knew...

The girl at the register recognized us and asked me what dolls they were. She said she hadn't seen them before and 5 others around her agreed. I felt sort of special that I may have just bought the first set at that store. They only had one of each doll so I was lucky I got the whole set. No one else had noticed them I guess. So I paid for them and went back out to the car. While my friend drove, I admired the dolls and read him their bios. We were more than shocked to see that Mattel had made them, and my first thought was that they must be competing with Bratz. That was fine with me, whatever made these dolls exist, I didn't care. It was that day that I became a Mattel lover. Anyway, I started talking about other monsters they could make, because we were afraid that these dolls would be a blip and no one would like them. We also feared that parents would ruin it for the kids like they did with Bratz dolls (By saying they're too skimpy or sexy for young girls). Thank god my mom didn't care what I played with, she thought Bratz were adorable.

So my friend and I arrived at my house and we decided to check out Monsterhigh.com. At the time, it wasn't really set up yet, so there wasn't much to see. I joined it though, and it said in a few weeks it'd be up and running. I also searched for MH in google, and nothing came up. It was definitely the early days of the dolls. No one else seemed to know about them! That was when I posed this question: "What if these dolls die out? What if no one buys them and they stop making them?" I so wanted the series to continue. Then it hit me. I had the perfect plan on how keep the series alive! It was going to be costly...

About a week went by, I had been to every TRU in the area at least once on everyday. (No life haha) They all had a full set of the MH dolls sitting on the shelves. My friend and I would arrange them nicely so people would see them. But every time we came back no one had bought them. At one time I heard a mom say "You don't need that, there will be plenty more later". Poor kid! It seemed as though no one wanted the new dolls, and it made me sad. So I then put my plan into action. My plan? To buy all the shelf warming MH dolls, in an attempt at making them more popular. I wanted to help Mattel get sales, I know it sounds crazy I mean, I'm one person. But I loved the series so much I didn't want it to go out. So, at every TRU in the area, I bought MH dolls. I left maybe one or two at every store so people would notice them. I left ones like Draculaura and Lagoona because I thought they would be most popular. After doing this for about 2 weeks, I finally noticed they were selling to someone other than me. Finally! People were noticing them!

It felt good. Really good. To see them fly off the shelves like they were, at last! Even better, the website was up, so I got to see the webisodes for the first time. I looked over at my sick collection of dolls. I had more than 10 of each girl. They were all still in their boxes. I thought long and hard on what I'd do with so many of them! That's when I decided to customize them! My first custom, believe it or not, was just to test out how my sculpting skills were. And he later became known as Draculogan! My first and most favorite OC. After sculpting his hair, I drew in some cool vampire affects, like accenting his cheek bones and giving him smokey eyes. He looked amazing! I wanted to show him off, so I turned to DeviantART. I had been a member of DA for almost 7 years! And my old account was getting well, old. SO I made a fresh new account and MHScreamQueen was born!

So there you have it, that's how I came to find and love the MH dolls! Imagine if I had known that 2 months later they'd be sold out everywhere, and new sets would be pouring out! I'm so glad the series is doing so well, and I hope Mattel keeps this incredible work up! Thanks for reading!

I'm also a fan of Monster high. I've been to there website and watch the webisodes. I just love the series. I have a total of three dolls. One Draculaura, one Frankie Stien, and a custom named Violet. They were given to because no one wanted them. Because there faces were messed up a little bit. You can't even tell really. I'll try to put them one my deviantaet page as soon as I get a new camra. Any ways thier sold out where I live. I was wondering if someone can help me. Please I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Last week I swapped around my dolls clothes for fun, mostly because I'm not good at sculpting. Maybe when I'm about 15... Anyway, now Clawdeens golden claw heel has fell off, and I'm still debating if I should super glue it back on cos it fell of in her diary and it still fits on okay.

Oh, and the first BOX (lol) I opened was Toralei's (yes, I kept them all boxed for a while until my friend begged me to get them out so she could see them properly). They're all now opened.

I was lucky enough, like you, to get all the dolls at once, even the limited edition Frankie. I now have all of the originals (Clawdeen, Frankie, Draculaura, Cleo, Deuce, Lagoona, Ghoulia) including C.A. Cupid, Toralei, Operetta, Clawd, Howleen, Nefera, Spectra and Abbey. I also have Dead Tired Clawdeen and Lagoona - and I'm still on the quest of getting them all, even Meowlody and Purrsophene when they come out.

That explains how you had so many dolls to customize! XD If only I had money like that when the dolls first came out. I only bought Lagoona, Deuce and Cleo. I actually first discovered Monster High June of 2010 at San Diego Comicon. I wasn't quite sure what it was and didn't totally care at first. I'm like, huh...Bratz meets monsters...interesting. They were selling the limited edition black and white Frankie doll for $30. ...I hate myself to this day for not buying it. I only had $30 left in my pocket and I wasn't ready to spead it on something I wasn't sure I was going to like. The designs of the dolls were neat, but I didn't know much about them.

When I got back home to AZ and jumped on their website, they didn't have much up (like you said), so I turned to their Youtube channel. They only had two complete webisodes and like, five 30 second previews and instantly loved it! I loved the designs, the character personalities and the clever writing. As I sat there, I started to loathe myself for not getting Frankie when I had the chance.

That's my story.

But yours is such an inspiration, you helped start to get the ball rolling. Thanks, man!
